Tsongkhapa (1357–1419) was a renowned Tibetan religious philosopher and devoted monastic. He undertook the challenging mission of seeking out and studying all the Indian Buddhist classics available in Tibet during his time. Depicted in his iconic form wearing a tall yellow hat, he stands as the central figure of the Gelugpa school, which remained the dominant Buddhist tradition in Tibet until the Chinese takeover in 1951. The Dalai Lama serves as its de facto leader.

Statues should be preserved in a glass cabinet to protect them from dust and damage.

Use a soft, clean cotton cloth to gently wipe away dust from the statue.

Try not to touch gold statues too much, as the oils from your hands can cause them to tarnish faster.

Steel wool, metal-bristled brushes, or scrubbing pads should never be used on the statue to avoid scratches.
